The Turner Sims Concert Hall is acknowledged as one of the finest music venues in the country. Opened in 1974 and celebrating its 30 th anniversary in 2004-05 its intimate auditorium and outstanding acoustics combine to create a magical atmosphere for performers and audiences alike.

Based on the University of Southampton's Highfield campus it promotes around 60 professional concerts each year across a range of musical forms, principally classical, jazz, world and folk.

The Turner Sims is regularly used by the University's Music Department both for lecture and seminars as well as a regular term-time series of professional and student lunchtime concerts. It also hosts rehearsals, concerts and presentations by a variety of schools, community groups and local and regional businesses. In addition to its concert series the Turner Sims is an innovator and provider of education and outreach work in Southampton and further afield.

Audiences come from a wide area across the South of England with concentrations in Bournemouth, Salisbury, Winchester, Portsmouth and Southampton. Some 50,000 people pass through the Concert Hall's doors every year.

How much does it cost to attend?

The design of the Turner Sims auditorium is such that for most concerts there is a single ticket price. Ticket prices for the 2004-05 season range from £12 upwards. Concessions are available. For further details contact the Box Office.
