In July 2004, the Hampshire Arts Access Forum (HAAF) was awarded a Community Fellowship grant (made possible by the Higher Education Active Community Fund) from the University of Southampton.
This funding has enabled HAAF participants to pilot the Hampshire Arts Access Guide for disabled and culturally diverse audiences - the latter of which is available on this website.
Supported by five University of Southampton student volunteers, the guide has been developed and supported by community groups and organisations.
To celebrate the completion of the guide’s initial production, HAAF partners hosted a launch event of the pilot HAAF Arts Access Guide on Thursday 20 th January 2005.
The event was held at the John Hansard Gallery ( University of Southampton) from 6.00-7.30pm. An introductory speech was given by Ronda Gowland (Chair of HAAF) at 6.30pm. The talk was followed by a buffet reception, which was extremely well attended. City Counsellors, members of the University and of each of the member organisations turned out to celebrate this unique event.
