Once Again
17 September - 31 October 2002
Uniting 22 international artists, the exhibition examines
the significance of the ‘double’ or ‘doubling’
in contemporary art practice. By presenting objects, paintings,
videos, drawings and photographs, each comprising two similar
and sometimes identical parts or halves relying on the other
to make the whole, the exhibition also scrutinises the physical
and psychological interaction between artist and viewer.
Participating artists comprise Richard Artschwager,
Glen Baxter, Angela Bulloch, Claude Closky, Nick Crowe/Ian Rawlinson,
Grenville Davey, Jane Harris, Mona Hatoum, Tim Head, Gerard
Hemsworth, Richard Kirwan, Jiri Kratochvil, Langlands and Bell,
Kenny Macleod, Bruce Nauman, Ana Prada, James Rielly, Hideyuki
Sawayanagi, Bridget Smith, Rosemarie Trockel, Mette Tronvoll
and Mandy Ure.
